MUMBAI, INDIA – A series of explosions were simultaneously set off in the Indian capital of Mumbai (Bombay) with reports that three areas in the financial district were directly affected.
- The Indian Home Ministry described the blasts as a terrorist attack. Investigations are underway to identify the group responsible.
- Authorities believe the first explosion came from a jewelry store in the Zaveri Bazaar.
- The second bomb went off in a taxi next to a bus stop in the Dadar district in the city center.
- According to reports, the last explosion was triggered in the Opera House district during evening rush hour.
- The state has been placed on high security alert. Casualty count is still unknown.
