Sarjoh Bah is a Senior Fellow and Program Coordinator of African Security Institutions, at New York University’s Center on International Cooperation. He is currently providing research support and policy advice to the Permanent Mission to the United Nations on Canada’s Chairmanship of the Peace building Commission’s Country Specific Configuration on Sierra Leone, and is leading the International Development Research Center’s (IDRC) exploratory work in that country.

Dr. Bah was the Program Coordinator of CIC’s Peace Operations Program, and was the Lead Scholar and Volume Editor of CIC’s flagship publication, the Annual Review of Global Peace Operations: 2008 and 2009. He holds a Ph.D. in International Relations and Comparative Development from Queen’s University, Canada. Prior to his current engagement, he worked as a Senior Researcher at the Institute for Security Studies and an international consultant to several organizations including the European Commission, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development, Fundación para las Relaciones Internacionales y el Diálogo Exterior (FRIDE) and the Center for Humanitarian Dialogue among others.

He has conducted extensive research and is widely published, and specializes in regional security cooperation in Africa and international multilateral diplomacy. He is the co-editor of, A Tortuous Road to Peace – The Dynamics of Regional, UN and International Humanitarian Interventions in Liberia, Institute for Security Studies: Pretoria, South Africa. Dr. Bah is a regular commentator on African and international security issues, and has been interviewed and quoted in The Financial Times, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, El Mundo, the PBS Online NewsHour with Jim Lehrer, Worldfocus on Channel 13, the Sudan Tribune, Angola Press, the South African Broadcasting Corporation and Radio France International among others.
