Dr. Dewi Fortuna Anwar has written extensively on issues related to Indonesian foreign policy, ASEAN political-security issues, democratization in Indonesia and Indonesian civil-military relations.
She is also a specialist on issues related to weapons of mass destruction and nuclear non-proliferation, having served as a member of the Blix Weapons of Mass Destruction Commission, and as a member of the UN Secretary General’s Advisory Board on Disarmament Matters. She is a Research Professor at the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) where she has served as Deputy Chairman for Social Sciences and Humanities for the past nine years, and the Director for Program and Research of The Habibie Center, a private think-tank based in Jakarta.
Dr. Anwar was the spokesperson for the third President of Indonesia, B.J. Habibie, and has commented frequently on TV and radio. She was a Visiting Professor at the School of Advanced International Studies, Johns Hopkins University Southeast Asia program in 2007, and from March to August 2010 she is a Visiting Fellow at the Center for Southeast Asian Studies, Kyoto University.
