Barry van Driel Barry van Driel Barry van Driel is the Secretary General of the International Association for Intercultural Education, and the International Director for Teacher Training and Curriculum Development at the Anne Frank House.

He was educated at universities in the Netherlands and the United States, and holds a graduate degree in the Psychology of Culture and Religion. He joined the Anne Frank House in 2002, where he has conducted many interviews with print media, radio and television in various countries relating to xenophobia, racism and discrimination today.

He has been the editor in chief of the journal Intercultural Education since 2000 and the Secretary General of the International Association for Intercultural Education since 2002. As Secretary General of the IAIE, he has conducted interviews on the educational situation of immigrants and minority groups. Mr. van Driel is also senior education consultant to the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) in Warsaw. There he has served on the drafting committee of the Toledo Guiding Principles on Teaching about Religions and Beliefs in Public Schools. He is also coordinating a project on intolerance against Muslims.

His previous books include Variant Lifestyles (Los Angeles, 1986), Confronting Islamophobia in Educational Practice (London, 2005) and Challenging Homophobia (London, 2007).
