Etienne Piguet is Professor of Geography at the University of Neuchâtel (Switzerland), where he holds the “Geography of mobilities” chair. He is a member of the Population geography commission’s steering committee of the International Geographic Union and former director a.i. of the Swiss forum for migration studies.
Professor Piguet is specialized in migration studies. He is one of the world specialists of the migration – climate change nexus. He has published a reference document on the topic on behalf of UNHCR in 2008 (New Issues in Refugee Research – United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Research Paper no. 153) as well as numerous papers in scientific journals. He currently prepares a book entitled “Migration and Climate Change” financed by UNESCO [International Migration Section].
Professor Piguet is a regular contributor to the leading Swiss Newspaper Le Temps, and is regularly solicited by the international Medias. He has a PhD. from University of Lausanne.
